To do and stuff
Sep. 16th, 2013 02:30 pmThe past few days have been rather taxing as I've been glued to the computer, watching the news unfold in Colorado. God, it's bad. Epically bad, actually. They aren't far off when describing it as "Biblical." I know I need to turn off the news, as it were, and just focus on the here and now, but... Of course, it's now that the good side of the flood is coming out, about how all the residents of the towns that are most affected are coming together to help each other. Like the diner owners in Jamestown who evacuated, but left their diner open for those who chose not to go... And basically all of the Hygiene (yes, that is a town name) residents helping each other clean up and rescue the stranded animals...
But, well, I do need to focus on the here and now. For the most part.
Speaking of which, Geoff's home sick with bronchitis. oh. yay. I forced Page out the door this morning (going so far as to give him a ride to school), even though he's not feeling well, either. So the house is descending into that mess again, which I am not thrilled with, but can't do anything about. On the plus side, Geoff should be feeling better in 24-48 hours (as the meds kick in), and I don't seem to be suffering from any lung ailments myself. I'm not 100%, but I'm definitely capable of doing most of what needs to be done.
Which leads me to the dreadfuled to do list:
- Cooking:
-- kimchi
-- applesauce
-- sausage
-- burgers (reg and curry)
-- salad (wash and store lettuce)
- Homework:
-- read ch. 4 & 5 of photography
-- take 4 more sets of shutter speed assignment
-- read ch. 3 of psych (finish notes on ch. 2)
-- write reflection paper (genes)
- Cleaning:
-- laundry
-- kitchen - dishes, counters, oven!!!, sweep
Right. So, I guess I better get to work. Especially as the reading is best done when Page isn't here. *looks at clock* Shit. Ah well. Hopefully it was a good day and he'll be willing to earn back computer time...
Ciao!

Date: 2013-09-17 12:10 am (UTC)The flooding is awful. Almost 2500 square miles of land has been flooded along the mountains (in Colorado - there's more in New Mexico and Arizona that isn't in that figure), and the structural damage... Billions and billions of dollars of damage. Possibly more than Katrina wrought. (Though I'm glad the country has apparently learned something about how to deal with such an emergency, because this is nowhere near the clusterfuck of a snafu that Katrina was. Oh, that was shameful!)
Fortunately, my friends and family are safe and sound, though a few of them have some pretty rough months ahead of them. :-(
