Decisions, decisions...

I've finished the first step of my next painting, but I like how it looks well enough that I'm not sure I want to take it to the next step. The next step will probably look cool, but it will alter the feeling of the piece a lot, and very possibly take away the mystery of the image.

But it would look pretty cool.

Okay, so here's the painting. Unfinished. Maybe.

The color balance is a bit messed up, as the bottom bit is a touch greener, and the grayish bit is a bit purpler (is that a word?), but it gives the general gist.

I have a crudely "digitally enhanced" version of the way the painting would look after (if) I take the next step, but I want your opinions on what you think this one is, first. I want to know if it becomes terribly obvious what it is after the next step, or if it continues to remain... ambiguous?

Just tell me if I'm becoming too demanding wanting your opinions and all. I s'pose I could filter this for only those interested. If you'd like that, let me know. I don't want to bore ya'll.

Cheers!

Very pretty. I really like it.

As to what comes next? Well, it looks like a field with a small hill that looks over a lake with a thunderstorm brewing. At least that's what I see. :)

Thanks! That's what I kind of see as well, even though I also see other things (knowing from whence the image came).

Grr. Gotta get out of Austen mode. It isn't suitable for SMHC style writing.

Well, I think it's very pretty.

I see a woman or man's face, I'm leaning towards a woman, and it looks like she's flying, or emerging from something. It does look like she is above a field or something of the sort, and I also think I can see her hands under her face, like she is cupping them or holding something. As to what she is actually doing, I have no idea! Perhaps she is the wind/storm or a tornado or something? *grasps at straws* I'm probably way off, but it was fun trying to figure it out!!

Thank you! That's interesting! I still haven't found that image yet. Coolness!

And there is no right or wrong. You see what you see, and that's what's right. :-)

I'm interested in seeing what comes next.

I'm glad to see you're painting!

I'm hoping I don't ruin it. Well, I don't think I'll ruin it, but I hope it won't be too obvious, that's all. Cheers!

This series is like one of those picture books that has images upsidedown, or under magnification. I'm really enjoying the puzzle aspect.

Well, I quite like it, but I'm always interested to see how various people create, so I'm curious about the possible next step as well.

Next step needs for it to dry thoroughly first. And the crude digital version needs tweaking, but I'll probably be doing that this evening. Hopefully I'll have that version up tonight or tomorrow!

Cheers! :-)

I already love it! It intrigues me. But I'm also a very curious person, so...what's the next step?

Thanks! Next step is actually to let the painting dry thoroughly (or at least to the touch), but the digital version of what I'ma gonna do needs tweaking before I show it. I looked at it this morning and went "eek! Not doing that!" so... hopefully I'll get it up tonight.

Your style has improved dramatically over the past few years. Oh wow. I am really loving everything you've shown us. I liked your art before, I still have the paintings/sketch you've given me in the past, but what you're doing now just blows them out of the water.

And I don't even like abstracts!

Your use of color lately is excellent.

What I keep thinking of is the relationship between a poem and a story. A good poem (in my view) focuses on one moment of intensity, and using that moment of intensity shows the whole story. That's what this, and the two paintings you've posted before, feel like they're doing to me. They're not focused or showing a clear descriptive thing, but you understand more of the story/scene at hand than if they were.

I'm so impressed.
