I did give you birthday greetings back when it was your birthday, but I didn't give you a gift as I don't like blondes, and I believe that's what you asked for.

Well, it took a while, but I finally managed to scrounge up a blonde (of sorts) for you.

Here you go... )

I hope you like it. Happy unbirthday!

Now... who've I forgotten? Who do I owe? At this point, you're going to have to remind me.

First, I'd like to mention that my scabiosa, which was looking like it had a week to go before it bloomed for the very first time, was broken off. Smashed to the ground. Sundered. I am less than pleased. I do not want to have to resort to those 2' high wire fences to protect my garden. They're ugly and tacky and I'd much prefer it if the kids (including my own) would just keep. off. the. bloody. garden.

Not pleased at all.

Second, I'm also not pleased about the picture behind the cut. I've decided that there are so many things inherently wrong with it that I'm not going to bother finishing it more than I already have. What bothers me about this failure is that I really like Snape's face. That and I've put an awful lot of hours into this and only in the last couple days have I realized that no matter how much I work on Hermione's face to make it look halfway decent, the picture is still buggered due to other (numerous) factors.

This doesn't please me, either.

I think I'm going to go have a chocolate cookie and go soak my head. Or similar.

It loses some of the charm it has as a pencil drawing, but I still like it.

The Book )

Remember it's best full sized. It can also be seen here.

Now off to... eat breakfast, I suppose. And then maybe work a bit on some ideas I have.

Still not done completely, but I think it's working a little better now.

Dear Heart )

I'm satisfied enough that I've put it up on my deviant page along with a bit of story text.

Next up will probably be a cleaned up version of "The Book." Maybe.

Here's yet another bid for pity birthday reviews. These are unGIMPed, except to make them more visable. I will probably work on them later, especially "Dear Heart" as I'm still not happy with Hermione, but for now, here they are! And remember that they're better full sized, so click on the pic!

Lookit! )

Now off to the airport to pick up Geoff.

This is another version of another pic I'm working on. I like this version possibly better than the first, but they have such very, very different feelings that... Yeah, well, here's 'This is not a love scene' )

Here's something I've been working on. Or one thing I've been working on, anyway.

It's also here.

new icon

I've been drawing, albeit badly, lately, and last night, with nothing better to take my limited attention, I worked on my latest drawing a bit. I need to take a better quality photo so that I can work on it in more detail, but in the meantime, I came up with the icon above.

It's my Snape. The one from SMHC. With short hair.

I don't know whether I'll successfully salvage the entire drawing, but I will say that I'm happy with how Snape looks right now. :-)

No fancy animation or anything like that... I haven't learned that stuff yet.

There's also this more cartoony version:

I uploaded the previous pic (now titled "Angels") over at DeviantArt. http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/55684639/

Tonight I finally started playing with layers. Boy, does it make life easier!

Help?

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to critique my unfinished (i.e. really rough) SS/HG pic (the one this snippet belongs to)? There's something off about their legs, and I can't figure out what it is and Geoff is out of town so he can't attempt to tell me. Grr.

Please?

Here's an unfinished snippet of what I'm currently working on in-between playing with all those fabulous filters on the GIMP.

Snippet is work safe, though finished piece might be pushing it )

Ganked from [personal profile] keladry_lupin

drawing personality

What does your drawing say about YOU?

Hmm... I seem to have lost the message of what it said about me.  Oops.  Something about liking rules, being of a sunny disposition and whatnot.  Very close to what Keladry got.

(Edit: You tend to pursue many different activities simultaneously. When misfortune does happen, it doesn't actually dishearten you all that much.
You are a thoughtful and cautious person. You like to think about your method, seeking to pursue your goal in the most effective way.
You like following the rules and being objective. You are precise and meticulous, and like to evaluate decisions before making them.
You have a sunny, cheerful disposition.)

Am amused, anyway.  Nice way to end the day, if you ask me.

And no, I wasn't thinking of any place in particular.  Nope.  Not at all.  I mean, what would come to mind when someone says "mountain," "path or road" and "tree"?  This, of course.

All from my imagination.  Yep.  Growing up on the base of such a mountain has nothing to do with anything.

(Too bad I'm not right handed, or able to use the mouse with my left hand, else I might have been able to get a good likeness with proper shading. It really is a beautiful view...)

Because I finished week 6's piece today (in time! How about that!), I thought I'd post week 5's piece now, even if it isn't Valentine's Day. Close enough, right?

And, because giving is fun, would you give me a My Valentinr - averygoodun, please?

Week 4 pic

So, this was actually done a couple of weeks ago, but I decided I didn't want to post it then, as it was [personal profile] zalena 's birthday present. It's very small, and almost doesn't count, but there was a sketch beforehand, and I did put effort into making it all purdy, so I'm saying it counts.

I do have week 5's piece done (not completely satisfied with it, but that seems to be the norm), but I have yet to take a picture.  I might delay posting it for a week, though, because it would be quite nice for Valentine's day. :-)

So far, what I've noticed is that I really, really, really need to work on composition.  I suck at it.  Majorly.  That's what I'm not satisfied about with week 5's piece.  Of course, that's what the sketching is supposed to be for... *cue bitter laughter*

Now to figure out what to do for this week... Maybe I should break out my oils again, especially now that there's a lock on the fridge to keep little fingers out of it.  (THANK GOD I didn't have any cadmiums on the pallettes he got into!  And thank goodness I don't use lead white, as well.  Still not good, though.)  :-(

In other art news, I decided to donate a custom portrait (from a sitting or photograph) for my church's auction.  I hope, really, really hope, that I won't regret that, but I never did say what medium it would be.  I can always fall back on charcoals... nice maleable, easy charcoals.
