Geoff put Babe in underwear today, and *gasp* Babe actually came in from playing outside to use the bathroom! Granted he stripped off his pants and underwear completely, but I'm not complaining! This is huge and monumental! Every other time he's worn underwear, he's treated them as diapers. I am very excited.

Another good:
Geoff and I actually got the teeny shed installed yesterday, and in the process, I got the in-progress patio weeded. It now looks almost like a construction site again, rather than a junkyard wilderness. Whee! Geoff also mowed the yard, which makes the yard look almost respectable. Whee again!

Our camera is most definitely dying. It statics out more and more frequently now, and takes longer and longer to come back to normal. This is a bummer financially, as I wanted to have more money available for the trip than it's looking like we'll have. But, I may be a privileged princess here, a camera is more necessity to us than not. It doesn't need to be top of the line or anything close to top of the line, but it does need to be digital. I don't do well with getting film processed.

And considering I get a lot of my inspiration from photographs I take, I do think of it as a necessity. Also, how else will we record Babe's progress into childhood?

I guess I will be looking at a new point-and-shoot camera... Any recommendations/advice?

I started glazing that little abstract thingy. I'm not thrilled so far, but I also know it's not done. I'll just assume it's in one of the ugly phases. It's not bad, mind, just... I don't like the colors. Mustard yellow is not my idea of beautiful. However, I do have ideas, so hopefully I will be able to fix it.

It's funny. I painted it outside to keep from getting fumed out, and I was quite satisfied with how it turned out... outside. Bringing it in emphasizes the yellow to a nasty degree. It might look better against a white wall, in fact it almost certainly would look better against a white wall rather than our butter yellow wall, but... Amazing how much a difference lighting makes.

Anything else? We leave in three days, and I haven't done much of anything, preparation-wise. I just want to go out and do the patio now, but that will have to wait. I did gather two little bunches of lavender blooms, leaving about a third of the blooms on the plants. I've hung the bunches on the door handle to dry out and then they will be going in the linen closet. Hopefully I won't react.

Oh, and I've finally lost patience with Geoff's work schedule. He's averaged 15 hour days, seven days a week for the last month. That's (way more than) enough. Fortunately, the conference is done so he can (and has) cut back to more reasonable hours now. Tomorrow is his last day before vacation! I'm very excited.

Yes! Yay yay double yay! Of course, in a way this is inconvenient timing, as we'll be going on a long plane ride, and then on long car rides, some of which will be in the middle of nowhere... But, then, at least he's male. Standing by the side of the road is an option for him. :-)

I'm completely helpless when it comes to taking pictures - but with my Canon Ixos I manage to make decent shots.

YAY for babe!

I like your abstract "thingy". Don't ask me why, but it made me think of Munk's "The Scream". I know the colours don't match ... I'm weird like that.

My current camera is a canon powershot, and I've been quite happy with it. It doesn't do close-ups very well, but it's given nice, reliable shots. So, I'm leaning towards another canon.

Yes! Yay for Babe, indeed!

It reminds me of the Scream as well. If you tilt it on it's side, it looks like it could be extracted from the Scream, almost. And with the new colors, it's even closer. The red isn't quite so vivid as Munch made his, but it now is virtually screaming "Expressionism". (Sorry.)

Btw, I just noticed that you friended me. May I friend you back?

May I friend you back? ~ Of course!
I had hoped you would do so.

Just a warning: on my journal you will encoutnter posts about Larva (my 10 year old daughter), Drone (my husband) and Amadeus (the gelding I have half-leased), occasional work-related rants (I work in the IT-department of a hospital group) and from time to time some picspam.

Oh, that's great! Horse person... Whee. What breed?

I should warn you that I tend to whinge and whine about a lot of stuff, though most of it's in good humor. If you look closely. With a magnifying glass. ;-) Lately a majority of the posts have been about my 3.6 yr old son, Babe, and potty training. Fun stuff.

Oh, he's an Austrian Warmblood/Noriker (heaviset horse, bred in Austria) mix. Not branded.

I can't resist showing him off :-)

My three year old niece has just discovered the loo as well, so I might have an idea of what you are going through with Babe.

Babe actually came in from playing outside to use the bathroom! Sounds like a major breakthru to me.

We have your basic Kodak Easy Share -- it's digital and very easy to use.

Major, major breakthrough! And he did it again, so it wasn't just a one-off experience! Granted, the second time he didn't want to put his pants back on, but, hey, whatever!

How is that camera on close-up focusing? My current camera has about a 2 foot minimum (i.e. you have to be at least two feet away to focus sharply) and I'm finding that restrictive.

yay for Babe using the potty again!! woot!

the abstract thingy doesn't look mustard yellow on my monitor - it looks more peach-y, or like soft cantaloupe melon. I still like it!

Yes! W00t!

Well, that's the original. I've changed the colors quite a bit through the glazing process, and so now it's not quite so pastel. I don't have a working camera at the moment, so I can't show the in-progress version. =)

But thank you!
