The good, the bad and the ugly

Geoff put Babe in underwear today, and *gasp* Babe actually came in from playing outside to use the bathroom! Granted he stripped off his pants and underwear completely, but I'm not complaining! This is huge and monumental! Every other time he's worn underwear, he's treated them as diapers. I am very excited.
Another good:
Geoff and I actually got the teeny shed installed yesterday, and in the process, I got the in-progress patio weeded. It now looks almost like a construction site again, rather than a junkyard wilderness. Whee! Geoff also mowed the yard, which makes the yard look almost respectable. Whee again!
Our camera is most definitely dying. It statics out more and more frequently now, and takes longer and longer to come back to normal. This is a bummer financially, as I wanted to have more money available for the trip than it's looking like we'll have. But, I may be a privileged princess here, a camera is more necessity to us than not. It doesn't need to be top of the line or anything close to top of the line, but it does need to be digital. I don't do well with getting film processed.
And considering I get a lot of my inspiration from photographs I take, I do think of it as a necessity. Also, how else will we record Babe's progress into childhood?
I guess I will be looking at a new point-and-shoot camera... Any recommendations/advice?
I started glazing that little abstract thingy. I'm not thrilled so far, but I also know it's not done. I'll just assume it's in one of the ugly phases. It's not bad, mind, just... I don't like the colors. Mustard yellow is not my idea of beautiful. However, I do have ideas, so hopefully I will be able to fix it.
It's funny. I painted it outside to keep from getting fumed out, and I was quite satisfied with how it turned out... outside. Bringing it in emphasizes the yellow to a nasty degree. It might look better against a white wall, in fact it almost certainly would look better against a white wall rather than our butter yellow wall, but... Amazing how much a difference lighting makes.
Anything else? We leave in three days, and I haven't done much of anything, preparation-wise. I just want to go out and do the patio now, but that will have to wait. I did gather two little bunches of lavender blooms, leaving about a third of the blooms on the plants. I've hung the bunches on the door handle to dry out and then they will be going in the linen closet. Hopefully I won't react.
Oh, and I've finally lost patience with Geoff's work schedule. He's averaged 15 hour days, seven days a week for the last month. That's (way more than) enough. Fortunately, the conference is done so he can (and has) cut back to more reasonable hours now. Tomorrow is his last day before vacation! I'm very excited.

Date: 2008-07-08 04:26 am (UTC)the abstract thingy doesn't look mustard yellow on my monitor - it looks more peach-y, or like soft cantaloupe melon. I still like it!

Date: 2008-07-08 10:04 pm (UTC)Well, that's the original. I've changed the colors quite a bit through the glazing process, and so now it's not quite so pastel. I don't have a working camera at the moment, so I can't show the in-progress version. =)
But thank you!
