Mold remediation. Full house mold remediation.

I am so not looking forward to the amount of work that's gonna be, but, lordy! I just watered the plants, and I've been itching, wheezing and uncomfortable since.

On the positive side, it's not like the house is falling apart due to mold. (Yet.) It would take another ten or twenty years of ignoring the problem before that would happen. The family would succumb to many various and nasty illnesses before the house's stability succumbed to anything.

But, oh. The work. I dreads it. Just the idea of re-potting every single plant in new soil (after having scrubbed out their pots with bleach) is daunting, let alone the massive overhaul of the basement that's needed. There's basically ten years' worth of crap down there!

*sneezes*

But, yeah. This is a sick house, and I'm pretty sure mold is at the root of it. So mold remediation it will be.

Bleh.

Over the last few days I have:

I'm seemingly better now. )

I'm tired. ;-)

Geoff is leaving for Brazil tomorrow afternoon, so that's unpleasant, but Page and I will deal. (And hey, it means that much less cooking will need to be done! That's a definite plus!)

I just hope I'll be able to use the beautiful, wonderful, early-Fall weather to finish my back garden, including transplanting all my plants into their spots. Without injuring myself again. After school, it's my highest priority. After all, Fall is here, which means winter is just around the corner.

Anyway, that's the state of me right now. I'd better serve up dinner now, though.

Bah.

averygoodun42: (ooh! dinner!)
So far, I am not loving Tuesdays. Something has to change, because the week cannot start this way for the rest of the semester. Especially as relying on Geoff to be here to help is looking like a bad idea/assumption.

I'm thinking Page is going to be going into after-school 2 days a week after all, no matter how he feels about it. Oh, how I am looking forward to that conversation.

Humbug.

To do

Aug. 27th, 2013 12:47 pm
averygoodun42: (Default)
- Dig up and pot pieris
- plant sedum
- laundry
- clean up entryway
- figure out dinner (burgers?)

- pick up dr. note; fill out school forms; request second prescription for keeping at school (nevermind!)
- bills and paperwork
- get trash and recycling out
- finish up planter boxes
- write email to HOA pres. (Hope it didn't sound too snarky as the back yard isn't directly his fault)
- chiropractor
- deadheading

- make choc. pudding
- trim and file all my nails

- paycheck to do tomorrow! Yay!
- pick up Geoff

Whelp, they have finally started work on the backyard. I wish someone had let us know ahead of time that they would be chopping down our backyard tree, though. Geoff said he saw a shadow, both literal and metaphorical, pass over my face as I watched the tree come down. I was surprised by my reaction. )
averygoodun42: (hair closeup)
And hopefully it will only be a moment. Still loads and loads to do, though not loads of laundry. The last load is in the washer right now. Yay!

I have slowly, slowly started the household catch-up, and while the results wouldn't be visible to a guest, they are noticeable to me. If only because the pile of recycling is out of the house. And the risk of stepping on Legos has been reduced by 200%. And the lack of an impassible pile of clothes on the upstairs landing...

I haven't gotten around to preparing the vegetables/roast yet, though. Bad momma bear, me.

Good momma bear, me, I made Page help by shucking the brussel sprouts. I didn't force the issue on his peeling the carrots, though. Which means more work for me. ;-]

Also very nice momma bear, me, I made a diet-compliant version of chicken nuggets today. Chicken strips dipped in egg and coated in a mix of almond and coconut flours with a bunch of salt mixed in. I fried them up and then put them in the oven for a few minutes to make sure they were completely cooked. They were tasty.

The leftover egg and flour fritters were also tasty, if a bit charred.

But, god, I hate preparing vegetables. I love eating them when they're well prepared, but what a time-sink and nuisance.

Ach well. It's late, so I'd better end my moment and get to it. Yep.

It's all Fallish out. It's even rainy and gloomy! So much so, I actually went so far as to make soup for my lunch. (That's almost unheard of in this house. I'm not much of a soup maker or eater.) I forgot the celery, unfortunately, and it really could have used some fish sauce, but otherwise it was quite nice. On the down side, the soup used up the last of my frozen batches of bone broth. On the plus side, the weather is at least accommodating for making more.

The thing I don't like about Fallish weather is doing errands in it. And I have a lot of errands to run today. A full sheet's worth. (The sheet is rather small, but still!) Five stops. Or six... A lot of separate stops, anyway.

*overly dramatic sigh*

*points to subject line*

Ach well. The fridge is well and truly bare, so I must go restock at the very least (three stops).

*sighs again*

Bye.

I should go out and weed while it isn't raining. The weeds are starting to become rather visible, and their roots are probably getting pretty hardy.

What I want to do is go take the big book of Sherlock upstairs and fall asleep with it on my lap.

What I should do is design the banner that's now a year overdue so I can present it for an okay tonight.

What I want to do is catch up on housework. (Yeah, it sounds strange to me, too, but it's true.)

What I should do is write a timed essay as practice.

What I am doing is writing this. Which so doesn't count, in so many ways.

Really, what I want to do is have a nap. A nice, long, nap. However, there is much to do, one of the things being to create a to-do list for the summer. But, well, everything can wait till after lunch, right? Since it's so close to lunch time, it would be pointless to start now... ;-)

10 days...

and absolutely no progress where schoolwork is concerned.

I have, however:in no particular order )

*feels loads better*

Now I am going to play crosswords and sudokus until I get restless, at which point I will either go out and weed a bit or put food into the oven.

Tomorrow I will start attacking the schoolwork. Not before.

Notes

- My wrist hurts from all the note taking I'm doing. I'm about halfway done. It is worth it, though. And I can't complain too much, as it's my own damned fault I have so much to do at once.

- It's hot out. No, really! It was nasty muggy this morning (Page had prickly heat from it), and the outside temp is supposed to reach 90 at any minute. Fortunately, it will be returning to normal spring weather tomorrow and for the foreseeable future.

- "Foreseeable" is an odd word to type out. Try it!

- Husband is coming down with another ear infection. And there was much rejoicing. /sarcasm

- I read "The House of Many Ways" the other day, and I can confirm that laundry does, indeed, breed. At least nine loads to do today. Plus washing out the washing machine. Bleh.

- I am really looking forward to this week being over. Oh, screw it! I'm really looking forward to this semester being over! *checks calendar* 22 days and counting.

- The garden out front is starting to look respectable, now that the daffodils are blooming. Hope the heat doesn't kill them.

Finally got enough stuff done so that I can make a to do list without feeling completely overwhelmed. Just a little whelmed.

So what that the sun is setting already? It sets early these days.

*looks around shiftily*

Right. What should I do first? )
